Return to Ravnica

Last weekend I played the pre-release for Return to Ravnica. It went very well. I decide to use Rakdos for my guild, The logic being that to my knowledge not many people play Rakdos. As it turns out almost everyone used Izzet or Golgari, Why I don't know but more on that later. I was 2-1 on my first game and 1-2 on my second and third, I almost won the second one but a stroke of luck on my opponents part just barely let them beat me. I could have stayed for a forth match but it was getting late and I did not have any shot at first prize. All things considered I did well keeping in mind the fact that I did not get many good cards. I for one am looking forward to drafting the new set and am eagerly awaiting the release of Gatecrash.

Sidenote: I think people like Izzet and Golgari so much has to do with the duel decks of them that were released a bit before the set came out. Don't get we wrong though, They are good guilds, People just overvalue them.

Sidenote

I only just relised how bad I am at art. I always knew I was a bit lacking in talent when it comes to drawing but seeing some of my sisters sketches [which are very good, With her permission I may share one or two of them] finally put it into perspective. In hindsight it's funny how I can't do a good stickman.

Storm update 2

The storm is over, And here is what happened: We lost power very early in the day and were without power for most of the day, My sister did not take this well. All in all though we were lucky, Our house in undamaged and we have our power back [As of posting this there are still at least 1500 people without power] so I think things went pretty well, Though from what I understand the rest of the island is in pretty rough shape.

Storm update

It hit us, We may be without power in a bit so I will keep this short. As I wright this it is 8:02 AM, The weather outside is scary as hell, There i little rain as of let but the wind is blowing at such a force at times I feel worried that it may cause serouis damage. On the bright side school has been closed.

Incoming storm!

There is a storm coming to the fog shrouded rock we call Newfoundland, We get a storm about once a month but this is different, This one is a hurricane. If it hits us I will do my best to get some cool footage of the storm to post here, But there is a chance that I may be without power tomorrow so if I don't post anything for a while that's why.
This will be the second hurricane I will have been through here, Hopefully things will go a bit better this time.

Update

Not much has been happening lately other than me getting sick, So don't expect much from me. I hope that another screenshot from the Minecraft world i'm working on will keep you all happy.

I'm Back!

Well, 4 days of bliss are at an end. My family has gotten home from Halifax and as such my peace is over for now.
And now for a summary of what I did: Nothing! I sat around and played Minecraft for four days in a row! I did go to the draft on Saturday and once again I did not draft anything good, I have decided to skip the next draft or two and see if that will make a difference.

This week I drafted blue, That turned out to be a big mistake. The two guys on either side of me were also drafting blue and as such they took all the good cards before I could get the chance to draft anything. It sucked. The only rare I managed to draft was a Void Stalker though I did manage to trade a Master of the Pearl Trident from my collection for two copy's of Lotus Petal. A lot of people under value the Petal just because it's not as broken as Black Lotus or the Mox cards, Of course it's not as broken! If is was any stronger it would be restricted. If your deck is anything other than dredge and does not benefit from a few petals you are doing something wrong.

Update

The rest of my family is going to Halifax tomorrow and as such I will be on my own for a few days. Do not expect any posts during that time, I plan to do a few posts to cover the events of the weekend and today and then I will not be doing anything for a few days but chilling and listening to Megedeth.

When I draft I often build my deck around my first pick, As such I try to make my first pick a rare. This week I first picked a Serra Avenger. Then I began to draft a B/W Exalted/Control deck. I was lucky enough to draft four copy's of Pacifism, Two copy's of Duress, Two copy's of Disentomb and a O Ring, All of witch proved to be very useful. I played 8 games against 3 opponents. My first foe used a life gain deck witch was rather annoying, I would spend a turn or two doing damage to her and she would cast Angel's Mercy and gain it all back. Despite that I won 2/0 with 17 seconds left on the clock. During my first match I used a Servant of Nefarox enchanted with Mark of the Vampire to gain 20 life.
My second foe was a lot stronger, Using a elf powered Sands deck he managed to mill me to death once but  my Avenger beat him twice. My third foe ended my wining streak though, He used W/U flyers. I did manage to beat him once but in the end I lost.
All in all It was very successful, I would have liked to have won a bit more but I had a good time and that's what matters. I also managed to trade my Avenger and two other rares for a Primeval Titan.

Design flaw

I just found out something, The dishwasher we have has a flaw in it. It seems that if you turn the tap in the kitchen to cold it will stop dishes from getting clean. The weird part is you don't even have to turn the water on for this to happen.

The war on the answering machine

You may have read my post on how my cats are trying to kill the answering machine, They have not stopped. Yesterday daisy shoved it off the window sill and just a few minuets ago she did it again, I still have no clue why.
UPDATE: After another attack I have moved the answering machine to the floor, It seems to be safe now.

Update on the fridge.

Well, We are finally down to one fridge around here, And have I got a story to tell:
Our old fridge had a water dispenser that has connected to the plumbing system by a copper pipe, And so when the guy came around with the new fridge he informed us that he was not allowed to take the old fridge because it was hooked up to the plumbing and he is not allowed to unhook it, He put our new fridge in the kitchen [as i'm sure you saw] and left, When my dad came home a few hours later and took steps to solve the problem, The first step was to turn off the water to our house, The next step was to disconnect the old fridge from the pipe and cap it off, A process that required a trip to the hardware store, He came back with a cap that turned out to be the wrong size and had to go back, He made a second trip and came back with another one that did not fit and went back a third time, Upon arrival he tried to find an employee to help him and as a result he got a promise that someone was coming but no one showed up, He finally tracked someone down only to find out that they were busy, My dad then gave up and went home to call a plumbing supply store, It was closed. In the end he got the cap but the story does not end here, When the guys come to take the old fridge away they break off a section of pipe that was in the way and it sprayed water all over the older of the two, As they removed the old fridge it leaked a trail of filthy water all over the floor and the pipe kept leaking for the next 12 hours.
Even by my standards the whole thing was quite weird.

Guess what I bought, Go on guess........ Can't guess? I bought a kickass hat!

Story of my life.

Today has been exceedingly weird, First the internet shagged up and I was offline for most of the day, Then our new fridge showed up [the old one died on us] but the guy who delivered it can't remove the old one so we have two fridges sitting in our kitchen. I took a video.

Recently my cats have started waging war on the answering machine, Last night I awoke to a crash only to find the answering machine on the floor with Jag sitting on top of it, Earlier today Daisy shoved it off of the windowsill, I have no clue why they fell compelled to kill a beninge peice of plastic and curictry that has never made a hostile move in it's life, But with the way my life is this is almost normal.

Yesterday I was a witness to a rather amusing stunt one of my cats pulled, My mom was lying on the couch and Daisy was on top of her, Daisy lay down for a while then she got up, Ate some food and came back and proceeded to flop down on the back of the couch, After a while my mom got up to get a drink and the moment she got up Daisy was sitting in my mom's spot grooming herself and looking like she owned the couch, My mom saw this, gave up and sat down elsewhere.

Fur, Fish, And Film.

[Sorry for the delay in posting, I have had a lot to do lately. L.V.S]

Before I get started I should explain something, Fur, Fish, And Film is a feature I will do about movies, Whenever I watch a movie [Which will not be often.] I will do a short review of it.


Movie I watched: Dead Snow.

Genre: Zombies/ Horror.

Review: All in all a good film, It is a Norwegian film and in my opinion that makes it stand out. The zombies are non standard, These ones are intelligent, Organised, And use weapons which I think is very cool. Granted Dead Snow does not cover any new ground, But it is still quite memorable with one of the most awesome dismemberment's I have ever seen, And a very funny moment in which a zombie is on the back of a snowmobile about to stab one of the main characters and a branch comes and clotheslines it before it can do any harm. I would highly recommend watching it.
In conclusion you can't really say anything bad about a movie that has Nazis, Zombies, And a snowmobile with a MG mounted on it.

Rating: 8.5/10

Yesterday I went down to a local music shop, They have a section of used albums and a lot of cool stuff in there like two Iron Maiden albums I found for $8.00 each!
I have started listening to the albums today and A Matter of Life and Death is great.(It is Iron Maiden after all.) Here is one of my favourite songs from the album:

I feel I should mention that I am now on Armorgames and on the Wizards forum.
Also I am over the cold from hell so posting will resume the normal rate of whenever the hell I fell like it.

More weird stuff.

There is a parking lot near my house that I walk through everyday, It never fails to offer up some surreal images, Like this week when I found a wheel-less skateboard that was broken clear in half, And today when I found a head-less rubber chicken under a car.
My life gets weirder every day.

Summer

Well, School is finally out (For me at least) and summer break has started, So in carrying on a family tradition I want to share with you a song we listen to on the last day.

So I just took a personally test to determine what colors I would be in Magic and this is the result:

I kind of disagree with the assessment but as it turns out black and blue are the colors I use the most.

Cold from hell update.

Well, I'm mostly better now, All except for this damn cough.
You see, Coughs love me and I hate them and as a result they hang around forever.

Last night my cat Jag decided to steal my bathrobe, He lay on it for about 30 minutes before I needed it back so in an effort to retrieve my robe I began tugging on it, This resulted in him giving me the stink eye,  Since I could not move him I promptly gave up and took this photo, A few minutes afterwards Jag got up and left.

I looked out my window last evening and saw one of the most moronic parking jobs I have ever seen, I had to take a video because my camera hates me:

My life

Posting may be a bit slow this week because I have the cold from hell, It's driving me insane and i'm half asleep most of the time.

How very weird.

There is a ship in the city harbor that is listing like all hell, I swear the gangplank is all that is holding it up, It has been sitting there for at least 3 months and apparently the company that owns it is scraping it and to do so they have to tow the ship to India, Seems like a lot of effort for not much.
